Description
I have been thinking for a long time about a meaningful use of an empty Prusament spool. I had a similar model on a capsule before, so I used certain elements from it. After many attempts, I finally hit the width of the ring on the capsule.
Too bad that the hexagonal holes on both sides of the spool are not symmetrically aligned. That's why I had to use clips at equal distances between the rings.
I didn't have an empty new spool, so I disassembled an almost full one - and in the end I had to manually!!! wind about 250m of filament onto an older type of Prusament spool - it took me about 15min, my hands!!
That convinced me that I wanted to make a filament winder for the spool.
I also discovered that on the spool I was using, the sides were expanding outwards a bit - About 1mm probably due to the pressure of the wound filament. That's why I spent a long time trying to find the size of the ring.
For smoother movement, I recommend cleaning the clips with a 5mm drill bit.
