Description
This is a working model of a Tower Crane that I created myself. It can lift around a kilo depending on how you load the weights and if the bottom is weighed down or not. There is also a mounting point available for you to attach your own control cabin. Please read the whole description before printing.
Assembly:
As instructions please use the raw model files that are also uploaded under this model, you can also make any adjustments there if desired.
It uses three n20 motors for all its controls.
I used a roughly twenty m3 and m4 bolts with the rest all being m2 of different sizes including twelve 50mm m2 bolts.
I used 35mmx6mm steel bars cut in two 10cm pieces to fill the weights. (Don't drop them because the box will jump open and the metal will fall on the floor)
I also recommend using m2 nuts especially on the tower so it is not just relying on the grip of the screws in the plastic.
To hold up the boom on both sides I used some string that does not have a lot of flex to ensure it stays straight.
For the hook I have a separate model that I uploaded and it is in my profile.
Finally to control everything I used an ESP32 on an expansion board which can be screwed into the central hub.
Disclaimer:
There will be some manual post processing required to clean up the parts specifically on the top parts of the boom. The details on it are very small so the printer struggles a little bit. Therefor it is also required to drill the holes through completely on the top boom but there is already a starting hole so do not worry about locating the right spot. I have also not tested this model with PLA and everything you see was printed using bambu lab PETG.
