Description
I’ve always been drawn to architecture and iconic landmarks, which is why I started creating bookmarks inspired by famous places from around the world.
Tikal Temple I, also known as the Temple of the Great Jaguar, is located in the ancient city of Tikal in northern Guatemala.
It was built around the year 732 AD and served as a funerary temple for a powerful Mayan ruler.
The temple stands about 47 meters tall and was one of the tallest structures in the ancient Maya world.
Today, Tikal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important archaeological sites in Central America.
Height: About 47 meters (154 feet)
Cultural origin: Classic Maya civilization
