Artemis SLS Wall Bracket 1:100 Scale

This is a 2 part wall mount for an Artemis SLS model rocket.  It is designed for a 1:100 scale which would be a model approximately 98 cm or 38.6" tall.

 

The lower base has 2 pegs which are designed to stabilize the solid rocket booster engines from slipping off the base. The pegs are 5-3/16" (13.18cm) center to center and ½" (12.7mm) in diameter.  This design is meant to accommodate various versions of the model and not be a tight fit but simply be a guard rail of sorts to prevent the model from being shaken or bumped off the mount.

 

 The upper bracket has 2 arms which can be printed in the color of the central orange core stage.  The arms articulate in rather stiff pivots to hold the model firmly.  They will adapt to variations in scale,  but for reference, they are approximately 3 inches (76mm) in diameter when fully closed.

 

To assemble the arms on the upper mount, simply push the arm onto the peg to get it started, then flip it over and put the joint over the edge of a table or kitchen counter and press down firmly to push the mount into the arm.  If you have difficulty getting one or both arms started, you may need to file or sand the inside corner of the arm hole to remove a burr that may have printed.  I found this was required on one arm I tested.  The arm will sit flush when installed and be tight, yet it will move.  To prevent breakage of the arm, open and close the mount by applying force close to the pivot point, not from the outer ends of the arm as it may snap.  The joint should be stiff.  Opening and closing it repeatedly will loosen the fit.  The model may be removed from its mount by simply opening the arms in this manner.
