M3 x 30mm Pin for Rugged Box

This pin is a flush surface option for anyone looking for a hardware option that does not want the head of the fastener to be visible. The model is 3.1 mm in diameter and 30mm long with a small slot for a screw driver. I printed with a 0.12 mm layer height, I would recommend as fine as you can go to better form the threads. The model prints with a brim and 6 pins; the slot will need to be cleaned up a bit to allow for the blade of the screwdriver. The slot is only 1 mm deep, so be careful when installing them as the sides of the slot are not very thick. The threads are modeled as M3 x 0.8 and are 3.5 mm long. I printed in PLA.

Based on feedback, I have changed a few things. The print profile has been updated as to include a second plate containing a pin with a 5mm thread length. Both plates now contain a single pin, you will have to increase the number of copies to accommodate your needs. 

 

The pins now print threads down to increase the adhesion surface area. Note: I would recommend using a textured PEI plate as well. 

 

Both models are now subject to variable layer height, starting at 0.08mm at the threads and finishing the main body at 0.12mm. 

 

The slots of the pins are fragile, this is a limitation of the material used, so be careful when installing them. They are not as strong as metal screws.
