Little Skeleton Compartment

Howdy, wonderful people!

The Little Robot Compartment is one of the more fidget-friendly models I've made of late! That springy resistance in the lid, er, head, when it's closed is just too satisfying. But it's almost Halloween, so now we have a more skeletal version! The Little Skeleton Compartment isn't exactly the same, but the mechanism is adapted. This bony version has a bit more volume internally, though, and obviously the exterior is a bit different, too.

How this container actually works is that the lid fits in a particular orientation, is pushed downwards, rotated, and then is snapped down into place by two pars of strategically-placed 6mm x 3mm magnets. So, it's not a container that will come open accidentally! The lid needs to be pulled upwards in order to be rotated and then pulled open, but pulling upwards requires pulling against magnetic attraction.

That magnetic attraction is the fun but, though, and it's what makes it tactile and satisfying :)

Optional Magnets

This one is much more fun with magnets, but you don't technically need them :) The model takes four 6mm x 3mm cylindrical magnets.

Print Description

This is a set of regular mode prints, and nothing should be tricky!

Print Dimensions

The skeleton body is 44mm x 47mm on the print bed and is 47mm tall.

Supports Needed?

Not at all!  Designed for straightforward printing!

Scalability

While you could certainly scale this one, you'll also be scaling the magnet holes, so bear that in mind!

Print Orientation

The body prints right-way-up, while the head lid prints upside-down.

Further Thoughts

It's always interesting to look back at what part of a model took the longest to come together. In this one, it was the fingers and toes! :)
