Marshmallow Magic

Ah, the joys of warm cocoa! Or hot chocolate, depending on your local vernacular. Yes, it's another entry in the list of questionable food choices, and this mug of marshmallow magic is of course secretly a container, in which you could store things. Marshmallows, perhaps!

While the mug itself is a single print, the lid is an assembly of parts, in that the marshmallows on top are attached by bolts from underneath.  I did consider just making the lid a single body for a filament swap, but that would preclude having marshmallows of different colours!

Now, the the marshmallow objects all look pretty much the same, and it's very much not obvious where they go, and in what orientation they should sit. So, each marshmallow has one, two or three dots underneath, and those match dots on the lid to make it simple to get the placement correct and have things fit neatly and securely.

Print Description

This is an assembly of regular-mode printed parts, and while there's nothing at all tricky in there you'll still want to make sure that things like bolt threads are neat and clean for easy assembly.

Print Dimensions

The mug part occupies 90mm x 122mm on the print bed, and is 90mm tall.

Supports Needed?

Not at all!  Designed for straightforward printing!

Scalability

You could certainly scale this one up or down, but you might have to vary the relative size of the parts so that things still fit together properly and aren't too loose, or tight!

All the parts print right-way-up!

Further Thoughts

It's funny how easy it is to forget that the mug sitting on your desk is actually printed, and not an actual drink you might consume. I printed in a light brown graduated filament, too, which really gives the prints a distinctly ceramic sensibility.

I did whip up a version of this without the marshmallows, just for variety, but I didn't get as far as actually printing it before remembering that without the marshmallows there's no handle by which to actually unscrew the lid....
