Description
Use case:
This self locking M6 nut behaves very much like a commercial nylon nut. On the dimensions I have tried to stay as close as possible to the DIN982 normative. There are two limitations of course:
This part works perfectly fine as a replacement for a nylon nut, if your load requirements are not too high and if you don't put it on a very long thread. The locking mechanism will wear out of course if you screw this down on a 50mm long screw for example. But if you put it just on the end of a screw, like on the first 10 to 20mm and leave it there, it will work fine. To screw it on slowly also helps, as too fast rotation will cause friction heat which will soften the locking mechanism so it wears out more.
Printing:
I strongly recommend PETG over PLA, as the flexibility of PETG is needed for the locking mechanism to work.
Just print the part with 100% infill in the uploaded position. To print more pieces at a time helps to get even nicer treads, because each layer can cool down better, before the next one is applied.
I hope you find this part useful, please give me a Like if you do and feel free to post pictures of your application. Happy printing!
