Triumph Logo Center Cap for VTO Wheels
Simple center cap for VTO wheels with the Triumph logo on it (for multi-color printing).
I got a fresh set of VTO wheels for my MGB and they came with bright chrome center caps. Since the wheels I got were black, I thought it might look better to have black center caps so I recreated the original center cap in Fusion 360. After recreating the original, I figured I might as well just put the logo directly into the cap instead of using the fake chrome sticker. Once I made one for MG, I though it would be nice to make one for Triumph owners as well.
The 3mf file is split into parts so you can use a multi color printer, or my 2 Colors 1 Extruder method to print the cap.
I have included the Fusion 360 file in case you want to adjust the height of the cap. On my MG, the front cap doesn't need to have any dish to it, but the back needs to clear the castle nut. If you want a lower profile center cap (or need more space for your axle nut) simply edit the first “offset plane” feature in the timeline. This will increase or decrease the height of the cap.
These caps fit the VTO wheels, or any similar wheel with a 65mm center clip diameter.
Printing:
Use a filament that can withstand a bit of heat. Unless you're racing the car, you don't need super high temp.
Higher than .2mm layer height will result in a poor looking fillet at the bottom. Adaptive layer height is also an option.
Unlike the original, I added a chamfer to the transition of this version so it can be printed with no supports.
