This is a kickplate designed to fit the KidKraft "Large Play Kitchen with Lights & Sounds" (item number 53369), a popular model sold at Costco: https://www.kidkraft.com/ca_en/large-play-kitchen-with-lights-sounds-white.html
Once installed, it will be much harder for your little ones to get all their toys lost underneath! There will be some flex to the kickplate, but it should be minimal.
It is in several pieces for easy printing:
- A “leg grabber” piecee which anchors to one of the centre leg supports of the play kitchen (print 2 of them and flip one upside down)
- A centre join that connects the two leg grabbers (print 1 only)
- A side extension piece that to the outside of each leg grabber (print 2 of them)
- In my set, these were different sizes, so I included two versions (123 mm and 125 mm)
- A side end piece that has a nice angled end to lie almost flush with the edge
Suggestions:
- Print the leg grabbers first, and let your babies have fun spinning them around
- You can print the pieces in different colours for added flare
- Then, as you add pieces, it makes a great “together-apart” puzzle
- Get another adult to help you lift the kitchen for the final assembly (I know you're probably really strong and can do it yourself, but I don't want you to get hurt)
- If you have any failed prints left over they could still be fun puzzles to play with, or at least a good conversation starter in the office
If you find that your kitchen is assembled with slightly different clearances than mine, it's very easy to adjust the centre join and side extension pieces (they're fully parameterized in OpenSCAD); just send me a quick note with the length you need.
