Description
Fidget Spinners are all the rage right now at my son's school. I made a few of the geometric ones, but then I wanted one for myself to be a bit different. I had made this wing for another project (a necklace) a while ago, so I grabbed that model and tweaked it till I got something I liked.
This one uses the standard 608 bearings, and 7/16" - 20 Nuts from the hardware store. They are just press fit (aka) hammered with light taps into place.
TinkerCad is awesome.
The original model was made in Tinkercad. To make the wing I found some Clip art of a wing that had feathers in distinct blocks not connected. I used photo shop to make several images from that original image. One was the complete outline as a solid shape, then the wing outside arch, and the feathers as individual files. I imported each image into Tinkercad, then arranged them all on the main back-outline shape to recreate it. I made each feather section it's own image because I tilted the feathers slightly to give it a little more 3D look to them. Tinkercad is awesome if you use it a lot you can learn cool little tricks.
