to assemble, slide the spring part along the crank to the end, 

then fit crank and spring onto the frame sliding the spring so that the overlapping ends slide onto the frame

then just insert end of toothpaste tube into slot in frame an through the crank slot and then wind

the frame has 2 slots for which to put the tube end into  the frame.

the bottom slot has theoreticaly less drag since its more in line with the direction of pull from the winder.

this design allows for left and right hand users simply by reversing the side the crank and spring go into the frame.

this winds and unwinds easily.
