Description
Hello!
I've been dreaming about making of Tali's Helmet for years. Finally I decided I'm profficient enough to pull it off!
Check out the full adventure (and assembly tutorial) on my Youtube:
Part 1:
Part 2:
The Arduino code and electronics diagram for the blinking light can be found on my Arduino Project Hub:
https://create.arduino.cc/projecthub/bzqp/voice-activated-3d-printed-tali-s-helmet-48bfb8?ref=user&ref_id=1479266&offset=0
The model was based on two sources:
The files were designed and split for 3D printing. I also prepared a 3D-printable buck for vacuum forming of the visor and some small extras. The model was scaled for a generic, female head (56-60cm head circumference).
The files include:
Split helmet parts for 3D printing (for 180x180 buildplate):
-back_bottom_left
-back_bottom_right
-back_top_left
-back_top_right
-front_left
-front_right
-middle_bottom_left
-middle_bottom_right
-middle_top_left
-middle_top_right
All split parts in one STL file:
-tali_helmet_split
The whole, unsplit helmet:
-tali_helmet_whole
Emergency Induction Port (for transparent filament, with a hole for a straw):
-emergency_induction_port
Vacuum forming buck (without extra air tubes):
-buck_without_tubes
Vacuum forming buck (with extra air tubes):
-buck_with_tubes
Vacuum forming buck with tubes split for a 180x180 build plate:
-buck1
-buck2
-buck3
-buck4
Knob for the potentiometer in the back of the helmet:
-5mm_knobs_tight_and_loose
After printing
Polish the hell out of it and glue it together with cyanoacrylic glue. Prime with acrylic primer, fill larger imperfections (mostly joints) with 2-part automotive filler. Sand it down again and spray with a few layers of spray-on putty filler. Polish it with 80-120-200-300 sandpaper, apply some more filler if needed.
Remove the dust with a damp cloth, prime it with acrylic primer and spray-on the finishing enamel (could be acrylic or alkyd). Weather to taste. Bon apetit!
Feel free to use these models for any non-commercial use.
