Spinning Top and Stand

This simple spinning top was inspired by Dom's totem from Inception. The design has been changed to facilitate easier printing and better performance. My tops (printed with the settings below) will spin for between 45 seconds and a minute.

Print Settings

• Nozzle Size: 0.4mm
• Layer Height: 0.16mm
• Vertical Shells: 3
• Top Layers: 3
• Bottom Layers: 5
• Infill: ≥50%
• Supports: Nope

Print one top, one bottom, and three connectors. In PrusaSlicer, make sure to check ‘Ensure Vertical Shell Thickness.’ Depending on the filament used, you may also want to randomize the seam. 

For the optional stand, PrusaSlicer's default settings work perfectly.

Assembly

1. Insert the connectors into the top. Press firmly on the edges of the disc until the connectors are fully inserted. 
2. Press the bottom on to the top. If the pieces are loose, apply some glue and use the connectors for alignment.
3. Determine if this is the real world.
