Description

This is a threaded cleanout plug for 4 inch PVC pipe that screws in flush with the end of the pipe. I have included a blank plug, as well as one labeled “Roof Water”, “Perimeter Drain”, and a wrench to make tightening and loosening them easier. I've included a couple small cutouts on each side of the usual square to make it easier to thread them by hand if you don't want to find the wrench.

You should obviously not expect this plug to provide a totally waterproof or pressure proof seal. It's designed to plug the hole to keep dirt and debris from getting inside.

I made these because in my area you are supposed to run your roof water in separate pipes from the perimeter drain. I redid all my drainage and I added cleanouts for the perimeter drain, but I also added some to clean out the pipes attached to my downspouts so I could clean them out without removing the downspouts. I wanted to label them so I could easily see the difference. I also wanted flush plugs rather than the ones with the square sticking out which is what I started with, but I still wanted to be able to tighten and loosen them by hand. This is my solution. Maybe someone else will find them useful.

I printed everything in PLA because it's what I had on hand. It would probably be better to use something more resistant to the outdoors, like ASA.

Please note that the plugs need to be printed at a relatively low layer height for the threads to come out accurately. My provided profile prints them at 0.12. Also note that while I have provided a dual colour print profile, it can be printed single colour and the lettering will still be visible as it is inset from the surface of the plug.

Update Jan 2026: It shouldn't be any different functionally, but I completely remodeled this in a way that is more parametric so it will be easier for me to modify in the future. There are some minor cosmetic changes.
