Description
Since the updates are long and filled with images and a lot of people might want to skip this, so I put the updates at the bottom of the description.
Summary
Collection of different size of the HSW sliding box!
The sliding box comes with a print in place sliding and tilting mechanism, and click in text panel! If you want to customize the sizes/tolerance and even tilting angle further you can see my parametric version here:
https://www.printables.com/model/1236383-hsw-customizable-parametric-sliding-box
The sizes are defined by how many honeycombs they take into account. The depth is just in mm. Everything is designed with FDM in mind and thus support free printing!
If you want to you can leave me a tip for this 3D model by buying me a coffee:

Printing: Sliding box
The sliding box is a print in place mechanism. Print orientations can also be seen in picture below. I printed mine in PLA at 0.2mm layer height
Printing: housing + HSW interface blocks
These prints are also straight forward. For each housing you need 4 HSW interface blocks. All printed in orientation below:
Printing: Text
The text insert can be printed as seen below with a color swap at 3.2mm, text can be added in slicer.
Assembling
The HSW interface blocks can be pressed (or tapped with a hammer) in the housing. These should be secure enough without any glue. When removing the housing from the HSW grind the interface blocks can get stuck in the grid instead of the housing. To prevent this you could use some CA glue before pressing in these interface blocks.
The text panel can be satisfyingly clicked into place. These can be taken out the same way so you can replace these if needed.
To assemble the sliding box, pull out the slider, then put the box in the housing at an angle like shown in the images below. Then you can press it in, this box should be “hard” to get out once assembled.
Updates:
06-05-2025
Added HSW interface blocks - tight fit
these have a tighter fit in the HSW grid, connection to printed part remains the same
10-06-2025
Labels
mounting option updated from generic dovetail to click-in mechanism. this prevents te label from slipping out when tolerances are to loose.
Also made the text insert a fixed height.
in previous version the height was dependent on the total height of the box.
Sliding box
changed the look and tolerance for the slider
Guide rail was removed, due to closer tolerances between slider and box
Slider stopper shape changed
Housing
cleaned up the sides and front of the housing to not show the slider for a cleaner look, this also makes the box even more secure in the housing.
Sides
Front
These changes prevents a way for the trapped air to move when rapidly closing the box
Created a air vent so there is no compressed air when closing rapidly.
