Description
You may be thinking - another front fan mount?… Yes, though this one is different from all the others I have seen. I personally didn't like the fact other designs added an additional section in-between the front plate and case. Additionally, other designs are ridiculously thick, the thinest alternative version I found is around double this one. This mount is only 21.50mm thick.
It is designed to fit two 140mm standard thickness fans, in my case, dual Noctua NF-A14x25 G2. The mount is attached directly to the front plate, completely coming off by pulling on the stock recessed strap.
This mount uses a fair amount of standard M3 heat set inserts. No additional magnets are required - it uses the original stock magnets.
The parts are held down by screwing into the predrilled holes in the front panel that attach to the wooden slats. Some longer M2 wood screws are required. I used 20mm screws, but you might find it works just as well with slightly different lengths. The holes drilled by the factory are all over the place.
The top cover plate is intended to be printed as a single piece, though can be split if required. Both sides are individually attached so don't rely on the top plate for structure. When attaching, note that the top plate is 1mm offset on one side, this should face inwards to hide any gaps between the plate and the case.
While the final mount feels sturdy and does the job - it was designed in a bit of a rush while I had everything dissasembled. I've included the CAD file for anyone who wishes to clean things up and make it more user friendly.
If it wasn't obvious, this requires significantly more parts than other versions. I suggest only using my version if you share the same design goals - others will likely be far simpler to both print and assemble.
I don't have time to create step by step instructions so I suggest taking a gander at the CAD and included images - should be relatively self evident how things go together. :)
