Description

With these 3D-printed tools, you can create strong and long-lasting springs yourself! — not only for the Wire Stripper Pro ( https://www.printables.com/model/1482697-wire-stripper-pro-functional-maker-tool ), but for many other projects as well!

Over the past few weeks, I experimented with many different spring types and shapes to adapt them for 3D printing and use in my Wire Stripper Pro project. While some variants worked, I wasn’t satisfied with their durability and resilience, so I ultimately replaced them with a steel spring. I used a suitable spring from my own collection, so unfortunately I cannot provide a source.

All the more exciting, you can now easily make your own springs with these 3D-printed tools!

All you need is some basic hand skills, a few grams of filament, a cordless drill or similar tool, two metric hex keys (2.5 mm and 4.0 mm for Wire Stripper Pro), about 500 mm of spring steel (Ø 0.8 or 1 mm), and of course a 3D printer.

CAUTION!: Spring steel can recoil strongly. Please avoid using pieces that are too short to prevent injury! Make sure the drill or similar tool is set to rotate very slowly.

Make sure to use at least four perimeters. The more perimeters you have, the easier it is to bore it open and enlarge it if needed. Please use at least 10% infill. It’s the same here: the more you use, the better and stronger it will get.

Locally source for wires:

Glad to get feedback from a maker that it works well to use music wire for making the springs — a great idea and a good, easy way to source them locally!

-————————————
