IMPORTANT - VERSION INFORMATION
This listing represent V1, the main and current version of the system.
An earlier ''Early Release'' version is still included as a legacy option for users who only want a press-fit, tool-free assembly. However, V1 is the recommended version and should be considered the primary product goinf forward.
Note: The first images are renders from the original early-release concept. Real photos of the finalized V1 design are included further down.
If you want a wall mounted version, check this out:
More accessories for the system will be a part of the Modular Storage System Collection on my profile!
This project is a modular filament storage system designed for long-term stability, scalability and real-world use.
V1 is the first fully built, reinforced and physically tested version of the design. It introduces mechanical fastening and additional structural support to significally improve rigidity compared to the original early release.
Modules can be combined horizontally and vertically using dedicated connectors and rods, without relying on long continuous rods.
The system is designed around standard 1kg filament spools.
V1 introduces several structural improvements focused on long-term strength and stability:
Mechanical fastening throughout the system
Rods are secured to the connectors using screws
Connectors are fastened to the feet
Connectors are also mechanically fastened to each other is stacked.
Upper reinforcement rod
An additional rod is added to the top between connectors
This significantly improved overall rigidity and reduces flex in larger builds
Improved structural integrity
Better load handling over time
Especially important for multi-module and stacked configurations
These changes make V1 a more robust and complete design compared to the original press-fit version.
This release also includes several optional add-ons:
End caps
Inserted into the side rod openings for a cleaner and more finished look.
Feet
Feet for freestanding setups fastened with screws.
These may also help support smaller spools (e.g. 250g) by increasing ground clearance.
The system is still primarily designed around 1kg spools. Support for smaller spools is experimental and may vary depending on spool dimensions.
Added universal labels for filament. Just add text in your preferred slicer. I'm going to add labels for most types of filament in the future.
The design prioritizes strength and rigidity rather than minimal print time.
Recommended starting point:
0.2mm layer height
4 perimeters
15-20% infill (Gyroid or cubic)
No supports required
Adjust settings as needed based on material and printer.
V1 - Main version (recommended)
Reinforced dsign with mechanical fasteners and upper support rod
Legacy - Early Release (press-fit)
Tool-free, press-fit version included for users who specifically want this approach. This version is no longer the recommended default.
STL files - ready to print
STEP files - included for customization, tolerance adjustments or remixes.
Feedback is especially appreciated on:
Fit and tolerances
Overall rigidity and stability
Connector and rod interfaces
Long-term use and expansion
Makes and photos are very welcome!
This system is designed to grow over time. Possible future additions include:
Corner modules
Wall-mount brackets
Additional connector variants
Side-mounted tool holders
Further refinements based on real-world use
