Spotty Toadstools

Hi hi, wonderful people!

If there's anything more magical than toadstools it's toadstools with secret compartments! Okay, not that secret - the entire cap is attached with a magnetic twist-lock mechanism and can be removed to reveal a totally secret space inside.

This is one of those models that has a lot of bits to screw together! Each of those dots is a separate threaded element, the stalks are attached to the base via a bolt, and the internal compartment is connected to the stalk by another two bolts. So, if you like assembling things, this is probably the model for you.

As is undoubtedly obvious from the photos there are two different shaped caps, but what is less obvious is that there are two different length stalks, too, though they aren't dramatically different. It can be useful to mix sizes when arranging the toadstools on the log, to keep the caps appropriately spaced for easy access. Ah yes, the log! That's one of the two stands, the other being a more abstract and angular thing that holds only a single toadstool. To avoid the stalks rotating there is a twelve-position keying feature that makes sure that the stalk can't move much even if the bolt isn't super tight.

Print Description

This print is an assembly of individual parts, so take care that those parts are nice and neat so as to assemble nicely :)

Optional Magnets

Magnets aren't entirely necessary for this model, but they do make attaching the toadstool caps nice and positive. If you do go with magnets, you'll need four 6x3mm cylindrical magnets for each toadstool.

Print Dimensions

The tall toadstool cap occupies 97mm x 97mm on the print bed and is 85mm tall.

Supports Needed?

Not at all!  Designed for straightforward printing!

Scalability

This will scale reasonably well, but bear in mind the magnets will no longer fit!

Print Orientation

The toadstool caps, interior cups, the log and the single stand all print right-way up, while the stalks print upside-down. The spots print thread-down and the bolts print head-down.
