Description

Into

This is a vent that can fit into you van's window to allow a fresh air inlet or exhaust. You can use these files print for either drive or passenger side, or both.

You will need some mesh (or optionally print the mesh) and some screws to assemble. I like to use self tapping screws with printed plastics, so these are sized for M3x8 self tapping screws (which are not the same as a normal m3x8 screw), or you should also be able to use something like a #4x0.375" sheet metal or wood screw with a pan head. If you want holes sized for somethign else, send me a message and I'm happy to help.

Printing

  • Included files are for the Driver's side door. Mirror to create the an identical parts that fits into the passenger side

  • Part will require supports

  • You will want to print out of something with at least moderate temperature resistance. PETG or a high temp PLA (such as polymaker's HT-PLA). Or an engineering filament like ASA would be best.

  • I would recommend at minimum printing with 3-4 walls and top/bottom layers, and 30ish% of your favorite infill.

Assembly

  1. Cut mesh to fit the outside of the backing plates. Then line it up on the vent side and trim the lower part so it doesn't extend into the window gap.

  2. Fit the parts together lining up the dovetails and screw holes

  3. Install screws into each of the holes. You may need to perforate the mesh for the screws if the won't cut through themselves.

The larger print assembles as below:

The smaller print assembles as below:

Installation

Install as follows:

  1. Roll down window

  2. Angle vent to fit in window opening, sliding it into the groves at the front and back of the window track.

  3. Rotate up and push the into the groove at the top of the window.

  4. Roll up the window slowly, making sure it lines up and is seating in the groove at the bottom of the vent.
