Description

This is a 400mm wide Shadow ship from Babylon 5.

I didnt draw the original model, the original can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:40536

But i wanted a larger one than my print bed could do in one piece, and the original model had some faults, so i have fixed it up, resized it, and sliced it up to be printed on a 200x200mm print bed.

The ship has 3 layers, top, middle, and bottom, and assembly should be self explanatory. There is no obvious mounting point between the top and middle layers because in the show there was actually a gap, so I simply glued it in place with CA where it looked right.

The spines look angular in the model, but due to how FDM works, they come out with a nice texture, and generally only a light sanding is needed. I printed mine in black PLA and haven't even bothered to paint it since i like the finish so much.

The parts are mostly angled with flat surfaces to the bed, but you WILL need supports for the spines!
