Summer - Butterflies, Flowers and Ladybirds

I wanted to create a story , having thought about butterflies going backwards and forwards I had for sometime thought about using them for an extruder indicator/visualiser.

Longing for summer I thought of incorporating flowers and ladybirds as well.

Any of the items I have created, flowers, butterflies or the ladybird can be used as an indicator. I used a 15mm extension from the extruder to make the arm extend further out past the fan.

I recommend bright PLA colours for most of the models with PETG for the grass backdrop.

The Butterflies

The butterflies are the most rewarding and take no time to print. It took a while to create the design, but its just a colour change for the last layer.

The Ladybird.

The easiest item I created was the butterfly printing it in red filament. I used a black permanent marker for the head, spots and legs. To create little circles on the ladybirds back i created in the design little cylinders which you can just make out . Although there is nothing stopping you from adding more spots!

If the ladybird is proving difficult to print at the size I created don't forget you can rescale larger using PrusaSlicer.

The flowers.

Again to add more colour you can use permanent markers.

The Grass Backdrop.

As for the Grass backdrop this clips onto the extruder. I've printed something similar a number of times and had no problem with brittleness. I think its due to the age of the green filament I found there to be a problem. I would also recommend PETG due to its greater flexibility.

To add more detail to the model I glued a ladybird as well as the flowers to the backdrop.

I used an 8x3 magnet just superglued to the bottom of the 15mm extension.

The print settings are for a 0.4mmm nozzle, just use Prusa's standard settings but changed the following layer heights for clarity.

flowers 0.15mm layers

butterfly 0.15mm

ladybird 0.1mm

grass backdrop 0.2mm

15mm body and arm 0.2mm

PLEASE NOTE 

I changed the grass backdrop from the picture shown with all the other items. Some of the grass was to close to the fan so I removed the bottom section of grass and I preferred a small circular hole than the original star pattern in the middle.
