Description

Ghosting, loose axes, poor layer adhesion, and cooling problems can all be easily identified and remedied using a quick Rockey print! By changing the resolution, scale, and speed of this print, you can fine tune your printer to reduce the effects of these issues. From a 9 minute print at .3mm resolution to test layer adhesion to a longer one-hour print to visualize vibrations, Rockey is the benchmark for diagnosing these problems with ease!

Or just print it for fun as a cool model :)

 

Recommended Print Settings:

*print in vase mode with a single wall*

Resolution: .15mm-.1mm for ghosting and vibration tuning, or .2mm-.3mm for testing cooling and layer adhesion. 

Supports: No

Rafts: No

Infill: 0%

 

Note on scaling: 

This print is versatile in terms of what it can diagnose, so scaling is important. 

Layer adhesion and part cooling:

  • If you are testing layer adhesion and cooling, print a few models at 100% scale (varying your slicer settings for each one) and snap them horizontally to check layer adhesion. These quick prints are a great way to refine your settings for the best layer adhesion. The tip of the rocket will help show how well your part cooling works. 

Ghosting and vibration tuning:

  • Print some larger scale Rockeys at .15mm or .1mm resolution to visualize these two issues. Look at the flat fin surfaces and you'll easily be able to see any defects.  

Notes:

Another handy feature is the smiley face on the bottom of the rocket. Use this to calibrate fine details on first layers.
