Description

My recreation of a Moroccan craft featuring hand-cut ceramic tiles glazed in different colors that interlock to create typical Arabesque & Islamic art geometrical patterns. This form of traditional art is seen in centuries-old palaces and mosques all around Morocco and its neighboring countries, as well as in southern Spain.

I created these coaster models as a souvenir from the time when I lived in Morocco.

I am also entering this to the Printables coaster contest, to share the centuries of history, knowledge and culture behind these beautiful designs with the 3D printing community.

Printing Instructions

Two versions included:

  1. MMU version, with stls separated by color already. The colors we show and the file names are suggestions, you can of course use whatever color combinations you like.

  2. Multi-part version, so you can print each batch of parts with a filament color.
You can choose to print the files of the MMU version one by one with each color, or the individual pieces arranged by yourself, the file name indicates how many copies of each part you need.

Follow the pictures provided to guide yourself on how to assemble it.

Brim or raft may be needed to ensure adhesion of small parts. Sanding or cleaning with a knife may be necessary for a good fit, especially if your printer produces zits, blobs or elephant foot.

You can print this upside-down on a textured bed.

You can scale any coaster in Z in your slicer to make it thicker.

Add a square of felt or cork underneath for an absorbent and non-slip feature.

This is prone to stringing, so fine tune that, or you can always clean it manually.

Find more coasters in my Flag Coasters collection, you can likely find yours there!
