Description

For all of the brilliant and interesting bag clip entries I've seen so far in this competition, I haven't yet seen the most fundamental of all: the bread-bag clip (also a milk-bag clip for those of us in Canada).

I've spent an incredible amount of time and resources on this design to bring you the best in simple bag clip solutions. This clip is print-in-place, single-piece, print-speed optimized… truly all the buzzwords you could want!

In all seriousness, I thought it was kind of funny that no entries had gone this route yet so it would be a fun exercise to take all the measurements of a commercial bread-bag tag and set it up in CAD, and it actually came out really well first-print.

As always, I'd love to see your makes or remixes of this :)

Update (July 17, 2022)

To address some comments made by users mgetz and Bike Cyclist, I've updated the files such that:

  • The core Bag Clip .stl file is slightly thinner, at 0.8mm, to allow for a bit more flexibility (I found it a touch too rigid)
  • Provided two variations on the clip, at approximately the same size but with simplified outer edges
  • The ‘simplified’ versions has a simpler geometry to reduce file size
  • Removed ironing from all of the gcode files, as it doesn't add much to the strength, and it allows the print time for all clips to be under 4min
  • Updated all .stl files to include explicit scaling information

For additional clarity, each of these clips are expected (at default scale) to have a z-height (thickness) of 0.8mm. They are intended for use with thin-plastic bags, as are often used for bread and milk bags.
