Okay, I'll admit, I've seen a "Beer Crate” battery box, however, I don't think I've ever seen an actual “beer crate” in real life. Hmm. Anyhow… It inspired me to create something that was infinitely more familiar to me, a “Milk Crate” battery box!
Yeah, I know milk has not been bottled & delivered in crates since the 1960's (thanks WIKI), but the legacy lives on in their current form in modern times… The oh-so-familiar, do-anything Plastic Milk Crate!
This 9V battery box is a nod to our beloved, super useful & versatile, milk crates!

9V Safety:
As mentioned above, this 9V battery box is part of a collection, however, I decided it really deserved a separate post due to the dangerous nature (fire hazard) of 9V batteries when improperly stored. I put a lot of thought into this design as 9V battery storage is kind of a pet peeve of mine (no more taping over the 9V terminals). When compared to the AAA & AA versions, this 9V version of the Milk Crate Battery Box has several additional features to maximize safety:
Secure Connection - Each of the (6) 9v storage cells within the milk crate has 9V terminal connections. These terminal connections create a secure, mechanical connection locking each 9V battery into place. The crate can even be inverted and the batteries will stay in place. Jiggle the 9V battery when inserting for the first time, they will “click-in”.
No Shorts - The positive (+) terminal is completely surrounded within the cell making it impossible to short the battery with any debris that gets into the crate.
Drainage - Each of the 9V dividing partitions has drainage channels built in should you somehow introduce liquid into the crate (please don't do this)

Color Combo Options - Optional 2-Color TEXT inset via printable-text files provided for each battery box. Create your own crate & label color combos! (Text tested to print fine with standard .4mm nozzle)

Printing:
All of the detail, none of the printing headaches! Tested in PLA & PETG with a standard .4mm nozzle @ .20mm quality. This is a fairly substantial print that looks, feels, and functions awesome. It's a great gateway print for those new to 3D printing looking to move onto larger prints.
Print bottom-down as pictured.
Inset the letters top-printed-side down. There is a slight taper on the top side that will help facilitate insertion. Push hard, they should fit snug. Grab a toothpick (as a brush) and add a micro-dab of crazy glue to make it permanent if desired.
Clean up any stringing gently with a heat gun as usual.
