Dish Soap Holders

This dish soap holder is designed to hold bottles of dish soap such as Dawn while promoting drainage. This design is also useful for things like mouthwash at bathroom sinks. This helps prevent the dirty build-up that normally accumulates at the bottom of dish soap bottles due to soapy water accumulating underneath. There are two variants of the design: one with a circular cutout designed to fit over a built-in soap dispenser that you choose not to use, and one without. Both variants feature a drainage channel at the front that helps encourage drainage flow from the front-right corner to the front-left; you can see this in the close-up photo of the front.

Key Dimensions

The variant with the soap dispenser cutout has the cutout measuring 53.00 mm in diameter, 76.00 mm in height, and where the front of the dispenser is at most 47.623 mm away from the edge of the countertop (the more this distance is undercut the more the dispenser will jut out over the sink). If the measurements don't make sense for you then you have the option to either simply use the cutout version without placing it over an unused soap dispenser, or you could use the version without a cutout. The cutout version does feature a different surface where the soap bottles or other products are placed which might be preferable for some folks.

Both variants hold a soap bottle measuring up to 109.00 mm in width and 153.00 mm in depth; the minimum width on the no-cutout variant to allow the bottle to cover at least two of the narrow holders is 32.00 mm, while with the cutout variant I think all feasible bottles will work.

Optional Non-Print Materials

These parts are designed to be adhered in place with 3M Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (16 lbs), though this is optional and some may be happy to use it without the adhesion. For the cutout variant just a single strip on the back of the holder oriented along the holder's width should be sufficient, because in conjunction with the soap dispenser cutout there will already be a lot of stability. For the variant without a cutout I would add a second command strip along the width at the front, just before the drainage lip at the front.

Alternatively I have used this successfully on oval shaped bathroom sinks for things like mouthwash without any command strips at all; the lip itself plus the curved border of the sink provides sufficient stability.

Printing Advice

I printed both of these with a waterproofing variant (based on https://blog.prusa3d.com/watertight-3d-printing-pt1-vases-cups-and-other-open-models_48949/ – notably this includes 6 perimeters) of the 0.15 mm layer height Speed Prusa Slicer preset. I think these settings are appropriate given the application since water exposure is expected, and I think the lower layer height is important for printing the drainage channel in the lip correctly. If you're having any trouble with that part you might even swap this out for a Quality preset to help get those features dialed in.

Make sure to print this on its back since the drainage channel lip feature dips below the rest of the holder.

The included gcode files feature filament swaps near the end to allow for a secondary color flair like what is shown in the photos.
