Description
These tablet mounts are designed to fit into recliners that offer a cylindrical accessory slot (but that part is printed separately so if your recliner has a different form factor for accessories you can print an alternative stand). One variant offers four possible viewing angles but any cables should come in from the sides while the other adds cable openings at the bottom but only three viewing angles. The second variant with cable openings was specifically designed to hold a Nintendo Switch while allowing it to charge while the first had a larger but thinner tablet form factor in mind.

Once the stand is printed, use Gorilla Super Glue Gel or equivalent to adhere the top section of the stand into the hole at the bottom of the mount.

Please note that while this design isn't strictly fragile (I've accidentally knocked it onto the carpet without breaking it), the stand is the weakest part notably where it meets the mount. This isn't helped by the fact that the stand is cylindrical and printed vertically so layer lines are along where the worst shear stress will come. It may be that an alternative stand design can be considered and printed on its side as a future improvement; for example an inscribed polygon would probably work. Related to this, the designed-for use case is expected to primarily be hands-off e.g. for video calls or for standing up a Nintendo Switch while playing it with controllers over bluetooth. I would like to revisit this design and improve it in the future.
Â
I printed the mounts with the 0.15 mm layer height Quality preset while the stand was printed with the same preset but extra strength settings including 6 perimeters. I think the mounts could probably be printed well with larger layer height but I haven't validated it.
