Description

You can't live without your Himalayan salt? Or you always need some cinnamon on top of your latte macchiato?

Just take it with you wherever you go - with these keychain containers. 😎

Each container consists of three components:

  • The lid
  • The body
  • The insert with holes

The lid:

This is the part which will be attached to the keyring. There is only one file, as it will fit on any insert.

The body:

This part will be filled with the spices of your own choice.

There are 3 different sizes available with either 1.2ml, 1.6ml or 2ml volume. Every body will fit on every insert.

The insert:

This part holds everything together. It has holes in it which will allow your spices to come out, like a salt shaker.

There are 3 different versions available for your personal needs:

  • Single big hole (coarse spices)
  • 3 medium holes (medium grind spices)
  • 5 small holes (extra fine spices)

Every version can be screwed into the lid and every body.

Printing instructions:

Choose the items you want to combine. You will need the lid, one body and one insert to create one travel spice container.

The lid should be printed upside down. Technically it won't need any support when printed like this, however the contact surface is pretty small, so I recommend a brim and/or supports on the buildplate only to make sure it won't come loose.

The body is the easiest part. Just print it with the bottom side on the buildplate. No supports needed.

The insert should be printed with the shaker hole(s) facing up. For each version I also provided one with built-in supports (no additional support needed) and one without (support on buildplate needed). Choose for yourself which one is best for you.

For layer height I tested 0.2mm 0.15mm and 0.1mm and all of them worked. In my personal opinion the 0.15mm gave me the best results, but that is also something that depends on your printer.

I used a standard 0.4 nozzle and 15% Gyroid infill (but any should do) with 2 perimeters.

Mine are printed in PETG. You should choose a foodsafe filament/resin, ideally you'll also cover the inside with a food safe varnish. Try to avoid the shaker holes or poke through again after drying.

Assembly:

First screw the lid onto the insert. The thread is right handed for the lid, so there is only one side that can be screwed in: the one with the shaker holes on top.

Next fill the body with your desired spice. You can fill it up until you reach the threaded part. If you overfill, you won't be able to screw on the insert.

Now screw the insert with the attached lid into the body. The body has a left handed thread (!), so you need to fasten it counter-clockwise.

I made it like that for two reasons:

  • You don't open the wrong side by accident
  • You can't overtighten the threads.

So, if you want to refill, just tighten the lid more, until the body comes loose. 😉

Now all that's left to do is to attach a keyring to the lid (and your key(s) of course).

And now you're ready to go. 😎

Hope you enjoy those little spice containers and you will use them a lot! ❤
