Adapter for Covid-19 emergency mask for medical professionals

The idea of connecting an airtight full face snorkeling mask with available high quality filters by an adapter is based on a similar project by the team covid19cz.cz. However, because a different mask and filters are used, I modeled this adapter in Fusion 360 completely from scratch.

Warning: Although this adapter is tested in medical operation, it is not certified. It is the result of an emergency situation where doctors in the Czech Republic do not have sufficient protective equipment. I was asked by the anesthesiology team leader to help them with a temporary solution within two days. I take no responsibility for using the 3D printed part.

Important notes:
• Check the schemes with necessary equipment first! You will need a mask, two filters, bit of sealing teflon tape. Then 3D print your adapter from quality CPE or PETG.
• The adapter can be mounted in two directions - either filters up (as shown) or filters backwards. Find your favorite variant yourself.
• Prior to deployment in service, the printout must be thoroughly disinfected. Ensure that all joints are tight. In operation it is necessary to ensure proper handling of the mask and regular inspection and cleaning with disinfectants against viruses and bacteria.

Notes:
• Adapter should be airtight, print at least 3 surface walls. Even better is to increase wall count to fill whole 3,2mm model wall. (And use infill only in bigger areas.)
• You can use 0,4 (or even 0,8mm) nozzle diameter.
• Layers of 0,2mm are still good enough.
• Check twice, if your printer not stringing too much or make small holes between layers.
• The result must be free of any impurities and disinfected!
• When designing I did not count on printing large series. The model can be printed in about one shift or night (circa 6–9 hours with common print profiles).
