Deprecated as of 1/11/2024:

I have no longer use or recommend this model.  This is what I use now.

This model was great when I lived in Colorado it was all I needed because it only got humid when it would rain.  But after I moved I found I needed to use more desiccant.  Here are a few other reason I stopped using this design.

  • I never liked the idea of having to drill a hole into the lid of my drybox
  • When this dome prints the cooling fan would cause some desiccant beads to fly away and make a mess.
  • The top never bridged correctly.  Old versions would leak desiccant beads.  New versions looked like poop.
  • It was a pain to unscrew the dome from the lid when I would need to put the dome into the dehydrator.

This small dome is printed enclosed. Pause the print near the end to fill with Desiccant.

Great for dry box lids where damp air gathers.

Print instructions

Why mount Desiccant at the top?
Humid air is lighter than dry air. (Clouds float) So your desiccant needs to be near the top of your dry box. (Update: this affect is to small to make a measurable difference in such a small container.)

Why is this design different
Most other Desiccant holders out there are printed in two parts then the lid is attached after the print is completed. This one doesn't use a lid so it doesn't waste a lot of space or have tolerance problems that cause the lid to be too tight or too loose.

The gcode and 3mf file I have included already have the pause added. If you are using Octoprint MAKE SURE you turn the nozzle heater back on before you resume the print. Let me say that again.

MAKE SURE you turn the nozzle heater back on before you resume the print.

Mount with a M3 x 8 mm bolt (or longer.)
