Description

Hi all!

I was unhappy with all of the available filament cutters since they either were weak, made a mess of cut ends, got lost because I had nowhere to store them, were not durable or were uncomfortable/small.

Therefore I designed this really sturdy and advanced filament cutter/snipper. It cuts your filament ends at a 45-degree angle with ease.
It also has a catch tray which includes a stopper and a sloped middle. This ensures that the ends do not get stuck inside the tool.

I designed 2 holders;
- 1 version for a 4040 profile, which can also be stuck on any surface with screws or double-sided tape.
- 1 version to click on the horizontal frame part of a Prusa i3 MK3(s)

Hardware needed;
- 2 springs from a pencil
- 2 M3x16 bolts with fine thread (for metal)
- 4 sections of a small utility blade

Prints needed;
- (1x) Mainbody
- (1x) Plunger (normal version or with HEX imprinting)
- (1x) Lid  (normal version or with HEX imprinting)
- Optional; Holder of your choosing

Printing instruction;
It's really easy! just download and print, no supports or special settings are needed! for the Lid and the Plunger, I recommend turning it 180 degrees so it has a flat face on the buildplate.

Assembly;
- Insert the blade in the plunger.
- Poke thru the sacrificial layer in the boltholes.
- Put the 2 springs in the boltholes from the top.
- Carefully lift the mainbody and put the 2x M3 bolts in from the bottom. (make sure the springs are fully around the bolts)
- Place the plunger inside of the mainbody. (It fits only in 1 orientation, it should be able to push fully down.
- Screw the bolts down until you cannot see any metal part of the bolts from the top
- You're done! Just put the lid in place, and you can slide the assembly into the holder you chose.

Changelog;

11/11/2022 - Tolerances adjusted on the holders
10/11/2022 - Initial upload
