Description
In some cases it is crucial to hit exactly the right spot when drilling into a wall. Especially when you need to match the distance of two mounting points. We all know that despite marking the right spot on the wall, your manually handled power drill will not drill exactly where you marked the spot. Once it is out of center a bit, there is basically no chance to correct the position of the drilling hole.
This drilling template can simply be glued to the wall with four strips of painters tape. That will create a very tough connection to the wall (try it if you don't believe it). The template will guide your drill bit all the way during the drilling process.
Drill dust messing up the room is another common problem of drilling into a wall. There are a number of designs out there to solve this problem. I have decided to simply combine two solutions and designed the matching dust collector. It can be hooked onto the drilling template so you have both hands free to hold the power drill.
The drilling template part is made for a 6mm wall drill bit (which has a cutting diameter of 6.2mm). In order to use it for a 8mm drill bit, simply scale everything up to 125%. Also the dust collector needs to be scaled, to fit over the pipe on the template.
Printing of these parts is very simple. Just print them in the uploaded orientation, not supports or brim are necessary. The used material is also not critical. I have used Prusament PETG transparent orange for the template and Prusament PLA Azur blue for the dust collector. No special settings are needed for the prints. A layer height of 0.2mm and a 0.4mm nozzle works just fine.
Your satisfaction is my reward. Please let me know by giving it a like and post a picture if you print it.
Happy printing!
