Welcome to Ecuador!
The Middle of the World Monument is located in Ciudad Mitad del Mundo (Middle of the World City), only 26 km north of Quito, in Ecuador. It highlights the exact location of the Equator, from which the country takes its name. The 30-meter-tall monument was constructed between 1979 and 1982. It also contains the Ethnographic Museum Middle of the Earth, a museum about the indigenous people of Ecuador (From Wikipedia).
