Description
This model is a lithophane globe model of the Earth. It uses NASA imagery to accurately depict the continents and oceans. I have added some elements to the oceans to make them more interesting since they take up a large portion of the globe. These elements include a compass rose, pirate ship and others.
There are two versions of the base to accommodate two different versions of circuit board LED's found in these lights available on Ebay. The lights have a RF controller that allows the lamp to be turned on and off remotely and provided RGB capability. The lights can be unscrewed from their housing by accessing the screws from the battery compartment. The LED circuit board can then be superglued into the base for the lamp. Look carefully at the circuit board and note which version you have - one will have two plastic posts (one on each side) where the screws are housed, and the other will have three (two on one side, and a third on the other). The two post version is Lamp Base V3.1 and has extra slots for transistor and resistor components. The three post version is V2.2
The base of the moon lamp needs paint on supports to support the interior ceiling of the battery compartment, and the battery compartment lid needs paint on supports for the two tabs and the beveled recess for the screw hole. The pre-sliced GCODE files have these supports included already.
The globe part of the lamp requires 100% infill, or sufficient perimeters such that there is no infill required in the model. The GCODE file provided uses a 0.4mm nozzle and .15mm layer heights, but the model prints perfectly well with a 0.6mm nozzle and 0.2mm layer height.
