Description
Use the Ball Buddy to customize your golf ball. For SLA or FDM single filament printers this model has two versions of the magnetic golf ball stencil holder (exposed and covered magnets). Both versions made up of two ball holder halves magnetically held in place using 8 6mm x 2mm magnets. Into each of the two halves different stencil inserts can be interchanged . Exposed magnets version can be printed with SLA or FDM printer, while covered can only be printed with a FDM printer (due to pause print requirement).
Does not work well for oversized golf balls (eg. Callaway Supersoft Max)
Recommend to use a fine and/or ultrafine Sharpie marker pen for insert stencil imagery.
Can be used with the following marker friendly stencil inserts.
Circle
Can be used with the following stencil template that can be downloaded and allow for end user to create their own fun stencils.
Print either 2 of either model for one complete golf ball stencil holder.
8 6mm x 2mm magnets (available at Amazon.ca) need to be placed into preset holes during the pause in printing for covered magnet version or once print is completed for exposed magnet version.
For exposed magnets holder version recommend using a dab of super glue in hole prior to placement of magnets to hold them in place.
Recommend marking the sides of the magnets with a sharpie marker to aid when placing the magnets into the slots so that they have the correct orientation to attract instead of repel when the two halves are brought together.
optional lanyard can be attached via the holes in the handle.
SLA Printing (best for exposed magnet version if using magnets)
Print using a high impact resistant filament (Anycubic Tough Ultra) at 0.05mm layer height
After cleaning and curing add magnets and then cover with a light coat of SLA resin and cure. Sand down additional resin cover until flat
FDM Printing
Mono-filament FDM printer with the golf ball stencil holder printed in PLA/ABS/PETG (FDM printer).
Covered magnet version of holder requires a pause print at layer 16 (2.4mm) to allow magnets to be inserted.
Recommend 0.2mm layer height with 10% infill.
Print in PLA/ABS/PETG with supports for handles on ball holders for FDM printer
