Description
This Business Card Holder is folded in half. Both parts have firm walls, one folding inside the other keeping the cards neat and tidy.
No printed supports and no other materials required.
The secret to folding is using only 0.3mm thick layer, between the two boxed ends, with the filament being PETG. This thickness is both strong and flexible.
To keep the holder secure the model has fine tolerances. Concealed on the closed holder is a tab on one side and a hole on the other. When pushed both sides together this fitting is concealed but holds the holder firm. (For clarity see Prusa Slicer Model)
When folded over and locked you have a slight lip on inside box, using that and the outer box edge you are able to prise the two parts open. It is quite firm at first, if you do not have strong fingers putting something in between the edges, such as a large diameter coin, will assist.
The initial layering needs to be 0.15mm thick to create the 0.3mm centre section.
For a quicker printer I have implemented the ‘variable height’ printing feature in Prusa Slicer to reduce the printing time to 2hrs 23 mins
