Description

Fans of American Football commonly play “Squares” for the Super Bowl.  Many offices and groups enjoy a little wager on the game to give everyone something to root for.

I've attached game sheets so you can start up a game with your family and friends.  If anyone asks tell them you've got your numbers.

Print the number chips and scramble them up, then pull them one at a time to generate your sequence when the time comes.

How to play:

  1. Sell ALL the squares before picking the numbers (person writes their name in the boxes they buy)
  2. Use the printed chips with numbers on them to randomly pick 0-9 and fill out the top row.
  3. Shuffle and repeat for the numbers along the left side.

It's important for fairness to sell all the squares first, before picking the numbers.

To win:

The last digit in the score at the end of each quarter wins.

You don't have to pick the winner. You're just rooting for any scoring scenario that hits your numbers.

Example:  If the score is 10-0 at halftime; the square at the intersection of 0-0 wins the 2nd quarter payout.  If the score is 14-23 at halftime; the square at the intersection of 4-3 wins the 2nd quarter payout.

For $5 squares, winners are paid $100 for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarter, then $200 for the final. It's not paid at the end of the 4th quarter (if there's overtime) because there are only 4 pay slots.  I included an alternate version of the sheet for $10 squares.

All the money taken in is paid out to the winners, so this is not “gambling” and the house doesn't make a dime unless the house buys a square and wins.  Pro tip:  Even the “bad” numbers like 2 or 5 can often be the big winner.
