Description
I made this to avoid lifting my wet hands out of the sink in order to get soap. It clears up counter space, keeps the soap out of sight unless you're at the sink, and keeps the counter clean/dry.
Should fit in a standard sink drain, the base of the model is about 80mm. I included a picture of my empty drain for reference.
My post shows a Dial Foam hand soap, which is one of the downloadable files. This bottle is kind of oblong. I also have a file for the brand Method foam hand soap, which is just a circular opening with an 82mm diameter. If you don't have either of those soap brands 1. I recommend them 2. the Method file might work for other bottles.
Print Details
Prints support-free and honestly doesn't require any infill. I also only used 2 walls because I was looking to minimize plastic, but of course the infill and thicker walls won't hurt.
There is a bridging layer as the top of the drain holes start to close, but I didn't really have an issue with it. For me there were a couple droops to clean up but nothing that is noticeable when it's in use.
I used PETG (Prusa Translucent Orange) but PLA would work fine too, just don't run it under hot water.
Usage
It might seem weird to stick your soap in your drain hole, but why not. My sink has two basins and I use this on the one that only drains water. The other basin is where I flush food and stuff with the garbage disposal. So as long as you use it similarly, there is no difference in how the water drains down. And I generally don't keep dishes in the sink, if I do it's only a couple, so I don't have any problem with it getting in the way of dishes either.
If you find use out of this let me know what you think! I've been told it's an odd idea but I'm curious what other people think.
