The new idea here (at least for me it was new :-) is that the boomerang is designednon-destructively in Blender. This means that we construct a single wing with very little geometry (31 vertices, 52 edges, 22 faces to be exact). Then we build up the whole shape by extruding and shaping it usingmodifiers. That way, the boomerang can still be manipulated easily in terms of the original geometry, even though it has 43.000 faces in its finished form. This makes it very easy to create a variety of shapes out of the prototypical triblader shown in the video by moving around very few control points.
