Description
A muffed tee shot leaves you 230 yards out, the green barely visible in the distance, guarded by sand on both sides, with water features along the way. A 7 iron should do. Ball and plumbob are sent on a line thru the air. This trophy captures that moment. You are the champion of fake golf. Please let spring come early so we can get back on the course.
Assembly and Printing Tips
Print is designed to be made in two parts. Background with the ball and the words SIM GOLF, and Foreground with the club and the word CHAMPION. Halves are assembled with nuts and bolts, see below
Assembly Hardware
Background Printing
Is fairly straightforward. 4 Colors needed are Black, Blue, Light Green, White. I recommend changing the layer resolution from 0.2mm to 0.1mm for the second half of the golf ball (after color changes are complete for the print). No supports for this part of the print.
Foreground Printing
Is a little more complicated. 8 colors in total. Starting 5 colors are Black, Blue, Light Green, Dark Green, Tan. At ~40mm (after the water and fairway are done printing), 3 colors must be swapped. Tan, Blue, and Light Green should be swapped for White, Silver, and Grey used in the club and lettering. Add a pause in the print to make the changeover (recommend some testing of pause behavior with MMU2S as this can be a bit unpredictable/unreliable in my experience).
Support blockers should be used in the nut traps. Traps are designed to print well without them and they would be difficult to remove. You can add the ‘fuzzy skin’ modifier to the Dark Green representing the ‘rough’ to give it a rougher appearance.
Print Materials
I use Inland brand PETG or PETG+ whenever possible. In this case that was used for Black, White, Silver, Grey, Light Green, Blue. I used Geeetech PETG for Dark Green, and ATARAXIA Skin color PETG for Tan sand. PLA would also be a great material choice for this model.
