About

This is a set of two different test pieces to print before printing the big Hydra parts. You need some calipers to measure the printed parts. The first test is to print the roller slots and the second is the dovetail joints.

Make sure you dial in flow correctly before you start, we've seen a few Hydra prints that were overextruded so avoid that. The problem then is you can't join the dovetail joints and therefore assemble properly without sanding them down a little, you can also get problems with the rollers binding.

The Bambu Lab printers usually do a pretty good with automatic flow calibration but it's best to confirm flow anyway, sometimes it is inaccurate.

First, print the roller test piece, print it in the direction I have set it. Measure the slot with calipers. The distance should be 82.50 mm but all polymers shrink a little as they are printed and cool off. Ideally the slot should be at least 82.20 mm to avoid binding as the rollers are around 81.60 mm wide with the bearings fully pressed on. If the measured slot is less than 82.20 mm you are likely overextruding a little so reduce flow a % or two and print it again.

Next, print the dovetail test joints. These should join nicely. If they don't, you are likely overextruding.
