It is a really simple upgrade really. I have noticed quite a bit of ringing from the 6mm belt since it has to move such a heavy bed (almost 3KG). Therefore I replaced it with a much sturdier, kevlar-reinforced 9mm belt.
This greatly improves the quality of the print, without breaking the bank.
you'll need;
- Smooth Idler pulley for 9mm belts
- Timing pulley for 9mm belt
- 9mm GT2 timing belt (around 95m, but I suggest ordering some more to have spare)
- M3 square nut
- M3x12 bolt
- Both printed parts
Instructions;
- Remove the Y motor, drop it down and remove the belt
- Slide the bed forward and off of the rails / V-slot profiles, and be careful with the bed power cable
- Remove the belt and belt mount from the bed carriage.
- Insert the M3 square nut in the slot and reinstall the new 9mm belt mount (printed part)
- Remove the rear idler pulley, and replace it with the 9mm pulley. Make sure to use the new spacer
- Reinstall the bed and put the printer carefully on its side/ rear so you can access the underside
- Reinstall the Y motor and replace the timing pulley with the new 9mm variant, make sure to slide it all the way back
- Measure the length of the belt you'll need, cut it to size, and put both ends inside of the belt mount. Fix them in place by tightening the M3x12 bolt from the side
- Put the printer back on its feet
- loosen the Y motor bolts a little bit, and pull it forward. When pulled forward, tighten the screws again so you put tension on the belt, and fix the Y motor in place.
All done!!

Release notes;
19-04-2023;
- Noticed the belt mount hit the Y motor pulley at Y360. Modified the part and reuploaded it so it supports full Y build volume
- I have made 2 versions for the belt upgrade; 1 version is compatible with the stock 2020 V-slot wheels, and 1 version is compatible with the Y linear rails upgrade I offer at my profile as well.
