Magnetic Utility Clip

This is a general purpose magnetic clip. I designed this clip so I can quickly attach/detach my paddle board paddle to my life jacket without the need for two hands. I haven't designed the mount for my paddle yet, but this magnetic clip can be used for anything. The print requires about 10g of filament and takes 2.5 hours.

Material:

I currently have it printed in PLA. I will be attempting to print this in ASA once I install an all metal hot end on my printer. I recommend using ASA or PETG if it is going to be used outdoors.

Hardware:

• (2) Screw Eyes with 0.072" wire diameter and 3/8" length (The length is from the base of the eye to the tip). Use an eye inside diameter of your choice.  
• (2) 10mm diameter by 10mm length neodymium magnets

Superglue

General Print Settings:
0.4mm Nozzle
Infill not required - Shells set to 10 will completely fill the part.
4 Top/Bottom Layers
10 Shells
0.12mm Layer Height
Supports are required on all pieces in order to have a good overhang surface finish

Assembly Instructions:

1. Print all parts in the default orientation of the STL mesh.
2. Screw the screw eye into the hole in Part 2 and Part 4. Use superglue to hold in place.
3. Superglue the magnets into Part 2 and Part 4. Ensure the polarities are correct so the side with the magnet exposed attracts. Ensure this bond is very strong since this will be the main joint that secures the magnets.
4. Superglue Part 2 into Part 1 and Part 4 into Part 3.
5. Attach your choice of clip (Ex: Carabiner) to the screw eyes.
