Description

My DM needed a carrying case for all of his stuff as the games take place at my house and he had to lug around a backpack and laptop bag for all of his stuff. I decided to make a custom carrying case for all of the tools that he would need within easy reach.

The multi-material prints were accomplished by carefully aligning the models in my slicer, printing the lettering first, and then printing the rest of the model on top. This created a very smooth finish that I think looks fantastic.

I've included both a Parts List and direct links to the items that I purchased in the Purchase List. Throughout this project I slowly changed my design principles and figured out things that worked and things that don't. I've gone through and changed some of the designs to fix some of those issues but I didn't go back and re-print them.

The Parts List contains descriptions as well as Tips & Tricks for Printing.

I'm probably happiest with the actual Dice boxes as I think that the symbols actually add a lot to the design instead of just labeling them D4-D20. I've designed the cases so that standard sized dice shouldn't fall out of the holes.

I know this is a very niche model overall. I think that the Dice boxes have the biggest potential for Interesting remixes so I've included the F360 Link to make that a bit easier.

As always, I would love to see others makes. If there's any questions or issues feel free to comment. I'm usually pretty good at responding to them.

Filament Used: SUNLU Marble PLA & eSUN Fire Truck Red PLA+

Purchase List:

  • Travel Case: (Required) This is actually just a makeup travel case that I found. It has a bunch of little pockets for Initiative trackers that my DM is designing and a separate zipper section to store sourcebooks and notebooks.  - Amazon Link

  • Evan & Colin's Monster Cards: 70 large-format cards to reference creature stats for 5e - evanandcolin.com
  • Condition Markers: 96pc Set. 24 Conditions (4 Each Condition). Sized for 39x2.8 rings - Amazon Link
  • Sand Timers: 6 Sand timers. Holder is sized for 45mm Diameter Timers - Amazon Link
  • Assorted Magnets: I bought 2 of these assorted magnets packs. Primarily used 6x2 (15) and 8x2 (11) magnets - Amazon Link

Parts List:

   Dice Holder:

     (Uses 6 6x2 & 6 8x2 magnets attached with super glue)

  • Dice_Base_Plate: Place the divider on the 14th straight notch from the right. Middle Divider should be 5th straight notch from the top.
  • Pencil_Box: Just a separator for Pencils, Pens, papers etc.
  • Dice_Box: (Print 6) Design inspired by this awesome Rounded Box by Jindřich Beneš
  • Dice_Lid_Handle: (Print 6) Friction fit, but you can use a dab of super glue if you want.
  • D4-D20 _Symbols: Print these first at 0.2mm Layer Height
  • D4-D20 _Lids: Print these upside down and line it up with the corresponding Symbol in the slicer.
   Condition Rings Holder:
  • Condition_Rings_Box: 3-letter Condition labels in Alphabetical order are squeezed in to help organize. Switch material at the last layer while printing at 0.2mm layer height.
  • Condition_Rings_Lettering: Print this first at 0.2mm Layer Height
  • Condition_Rings_Lid: No Magnets on this one (with a little reworking I feel like magnets could be added. F360 Link) Friction fit seemed to work fine. Print this upside down and line it up with the lettering in the slicer.
  • Condition_Ring_Bottom_Spacer: this is just to make sure that the box sits up high enough to easily access everything. Also created a nice little hidden compartment for extra storage that can be accessed from the top or side.

   Sand Timer Holder:

  • Sand-Timer_Holder: Place the divider on the 6th straight Notch from the left. Holds the 6 Sand Timers as well as an extra that my DM already owned (37mm Diameter). The 6 are labeled at the bottom. Switch material at the last couple layers while printing at 0.2mm layer height. I originally cut out spaces to try and save filament/time but all it did was weaken the structure. This has been removed in the file I have included here.
   Monster Cards Holder:

(Uses 4 8x2 magnets attached with super glue Optional: 4 10x2 magnets)

  • Monster-Cards_Box: This was the first box I designed and I wasn't sure what the best magnet position/strength would be. I made it to take 4 8x2 and 4 10x2 magnets. Which turned out to be overkill. They work just fine with the 8x2 magnets but I've kept the design in case anyone wants to use the 10x2 or wants to use all 8 magnets for extra holding strength. (Note: Noticed that the cards become a bit damaged from removal after a bit. recommend putting some felt or something at the bottom to soften impact.)
  • Monster-Cards_Lettering: Print this first at 0.2mm Layer Height
  • Monster-Cards_Lid: Print this upside down and line it up with the lettering in the slicer.
   Token Bases Holder:

(Uses 8 6x2 magnets attached with super glue)

  • Token-Bases_Box: My DM uses laminated paper minis (Similar to these). They are held up by little mini bases that I have printed out in all different colors to identify characters/enemies/allies/etc.
  • Token-Bases_Dropper: The design for this box was inspired by this Modular Money Drop Stacker (U.S Version) by TheFictionalFox. Makes it easy to store a bunch of bases and access them for use without too much fuss.
  • Token_Base: Maximum capacity for this box is 66 (11 per slot).
  • Token-Bases_Lid_Window: Originally the “windows" were supposed to be handles. They failed miserably at that task and honestly aren't very good windows. I included this version just because it is the lid that I have printed.
  • Token-Bases_Lid_No-Window: Removed the “windows”. It does make the word placement a bit strange though.
  • Token-Bases_Lettering: Print this first at 0.2mm Layer Height
   Inspiration Coins Holder

     (Uses 1 6x2 & 1 8x2 magnets attached with super glue)

  • Inspiration-Coins_Box: Used to store these Tokens of Inspiration by Conr8r. There's a small storage area in this case for whatever random stuff you can fit since I didn't want the coins to just be loose in a big box.
  • Inspiration-Coins_Lid: this ones a bit different from the rest of this print. Print this right-side up since the symbols on top are raised. Switch out filament at the last few layers.
  • Inspiration-Coins_Lid_Handle: Not as tight of a fit as the dice handles. Had to use glue to keep this handle in place.
  • Inspiration-Coins_Bottom_Spacer: Similar to the condition box, this is just a spacer to get the box at the right height for easy access. Its a lot harder to get into this space since its a much tighter fit. Not as easily utilized for storage.
