Description

This is a bed chain for the Anet A8 Plus 3D printer. This chain differs from all the other Y-Axis cable chains on Thingiverse significantly. First of all, this chain rolls horizontally "sideways". This chain does not interfere with big hocking bed leveling knobs, nor does it require a significant distance to be added from the backside to a wall.

*NOTE: This model requires that you relocate the printers mainboard and backing plate. I simply raised my mainboard 10 centimeters, which was for the purpose of both utilizing a great X-Axis chain without extending my hot end wiring, and left room to mount a mosfet below the mainboard. In any case, the mainboards backing plate must be moved out of the way to install part A to the left side vertical frame section.

This chain uses the ever so popular chain links by ModelStation: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:11978

This model requires 14 of ModelStations links. I'll include ModelStations links with this model in two files. CableChain.stl is a single link, whereas CableChainX4.stl is, as it suggests, 4 of ModelStations links. I recommend printing CableChainX4.stl 4 times, which will give you all the links needed for this model and two spares. Before attaching either Part A or Part B of this model to your printer, remove the heated bed cable and feed it through the chain assembly as you're assembling it. Once it's together with the cable run completely through it, attach part B to the bed and part A to the frame.

This chain attaches to the bed support by removing the left rear nut, screw, and spring. Part B of this model simply slips on to the bed support corner. Once Part B is in place, set the spring between Part B and the heated bed, then reinstall the screw and nut. Part A attaches to the inside of the left vertical frame piece with two M4 screws and M4 T-Nuts.

UPDATE 06192021: I uploaded two photo's, one with the bed fully forward, and the other fully aft. Disregard the wire mess beneath my control board. This model has me re-imagining the MOSFET mount that was directly beneath the mainboard. I wanted to get the photo's up to show what the completed installation of this bed chain is supposed to look like as my description probably doesn't make a lot of sense. :)

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Anet

Printer:

A8

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

.2

Infill:

20

Filament: Jinos 3D PLA Indigo

Notes:

Part A prints with NO supports. The chain links print with NO supports. Part B must be printed with supports, although I designed it to print perfectly by opting to print supports only "Touching Buildplate". My "Support Overhang Angle" in Cura is 80%, and my "Support Density" in Cura is set to 5%. With those settings, the model will slice to have only two minuscule support pieces that remove with the greatest of ease.
