Description

I was unhappy with the magnetically mounted display for my Anet A8 Plus. The magnetic mount makes for a flimsy attachment for such a heavy display in its steel enclosure. Additionally, it makes more sense to have the display mounted to the left side of the frame so that the encoder wheel is fully supported with the mounting apparatus directly beneath it. My stand-alone CR-10 clone has its display mounted on the left side and I too like the familiarity.

This model prints in three pieces, the face, the back, and the base. By design, the back should be secured to the base, then attached to the frame with 4 M4x8mm screws & T-Nuts. I secure the back to the base with 4 9/64" machine screws, but the holes could be drilled larger to accommodate 4mm screws, or one could use 3mm screws as is with nuts.

The display itself secures to the inside of the face with 4 screws. I opted to use the screws that held the display in the original steel case, which required me to open the holes up. I don't have metric drill bits so I ran a 3/32" drill through each of the 4 holes and the supplied screws worked fine. Once the display board is attached to the face, and the back and base are secured to the printers frame, snap the assembled face on to the mounted back and attach ribbon cables.

This particular LCD PCB that comes with the Anet A8 Plus is the same board that comes with the Anet A6, and is frequently used in other cheap printers and even as an upgrade to the original Anet A8. This enclosure and mount should fit an AM8 upgrade if you've already opted for this display. Likewise, it should work well for attaching this display to any 20x40 or 40x40 aluminum extruded printer frame.

I print all three parts, oriented as modeled in the STL's, on bare glass which makes for a nice finish on the face especially.

I branded the face I printed with the Anet logo, not because I think Anet makes amazing printers, but to make the display look like a stock configuration for the printer. I included an UNBRANDED version of the face for those who are using it on printers other than Anets, and those who don't believe in giving Anet free advertising space.

I included a STL of all three pieces together in their assembled configuration just to show how the thing should look until I get a chance to get some photo's up. If somebody beats me to it, please post a make :)
