Description
This is a slip on, frame mounted spool holder for the Anet A8. It attaches to the left side pillar , oriented so that the spool will locate to the backside of the machine, just behind the display brace at the top of the printer.
A filament guide of some sort will be needed for guiding the filament downward, over the top of the printer. Choose one to your liking, or download mine here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4784280
This spool holder works well for me, and is compatible with the spool adapter I use on all of my printers. The fellow who designed the spool adapter I use is named jantzenday, and his model can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2387254
As I said, this spool holder works well on my Anet A8, with it's factory stile direct drive extruder. It is unlikely this spool holder will cooperate with a bowden extruder, however, I would be very interested to see photos of somebody who could make this work with a bowden setup. :)
Printer Brand:
Anet
Printer:
A8
Rafts:
No
Supports:
Yes
Resolution:
.2
Infill:
33
Filament: Generic PLA White
Notes:
For strength, I recommend a 33% infill, 2mm walls, as well as 2mm top and bottom thickness.
I printed mine as oriented, although I rotated it 45 degrees. Cura tells me it will fit my A8's bed, but it looks a little close for me, so I rotated it. Use your best judgement.
I recommend using supports on the bracket, which will amount to two very easily removable strips of plastic underneath the clips that wrap around the pillar. I use a support density of 5%. I print the spool adapter with supports as well, and they are super easy to remove at 5% density.
The tube and nut, printed as oriented in the model, require no supports.
