Description

This is a 2 piece handlebar mountable front bicycle reflector mount.

The front reflector on my Kent Bayside bicycle was mounted on the steering stem. The stem mounted bracket interfered with the fuel tank that attaches at the front most area of the frames top bar. The Bayside differs from similar cruiser style bicycles in that the support for the top bar is a single piece that welded between the down tube to the top bar, creating an obstacle for the rear strap of the standard tanks included with motorized kits. Installing the tank fully forward, nearly touching the upper fork nut, and grinding the rear strap to 1/2 it's original thickness at the support resolves mounting, but will require the relocation of the front reflector.

While the handlebar tube and stem have the same 22mm diameter, the angle of the reflector was unsuitable by attaching the reflector to the handlebar with the included mount.

This bracket will fit any 22mm bar, which seems standard on most bicycles. The two halves of this mount are intended to be secured together on the handlebar by two 1/8" x 1/2" flat head wood screws "not included".

I printed this using Cura's default Creality CR-10 profile, oriented on the print bed as modeled, on my ultra-cheap CTC CR-10 knockoff. While it may print fine without supports on some printers, there is a 2.25mm 90 degree overhang area between the 70 degree slide plate and bracket that is bound to cause problems for most printers. On my CR-10 clone I enabled supports, but only for "Touching Buildplate" and with a support density of only 5%. The resulting print was as intended and supports stayed with the bed when I removed the model.

UPDATE 01012021: I wasn't at all pleased with my first implementation of this reflector mount. The two fasteners 180 degrees opposed was just overwhelmingly ugly. I relocated the upper fasten point to the top of the thick area that holds the slide retainer for the reflector, making the individual fastener points 90 degrees from one another. The upper screw is now concealed by the reflector, making the bracket, IMO less aesthetically obnoxious. :) I've left the original model here and am noting that I misspelled "Handlebar" as "Handlepar", adding to my personal shame. The new model is labeled "Reflector_Bracket_V2.stl". The new model still requires the same two screws. Also, you may notice from the photos that I printed this bracket in white. That just happens to be the color loaded in my printer from my wall plates. I intend to reprint version 2 in black for my bike before spring. I think white enhances the obnoxious look to this model. :)

Update 01082021: Oops! :( I finally finished all my white printing and loaded up a spool of silver for another project, so I decided to reprint the V2 bracket while my printer was idle. When I resliced it, I noticed that in my haste, I inadvertently offset the slide by .25mm, which raises that portion of the model off the bed by that amount. I'm replacing the V2 model with the corrected version. Sorry...
